Speedtest Tracker is an internet speed monitoring tool that continuously tests the internet connection and provides detailed reports. It allows users to track their network speed over time, helping identify fluctuations, downtime, or ISP inconsistencies.
This tutorial explains how to install Speedtest Tracker inside a Docker container on Linux. Commands have been tested on Ubuntu.
Prepare environment
Make sure you have installed Docker in your system. If you are using Ubuntu, installation instructions can be found in the post.
Install Speedtest Tracker
- Host network
Run the following command to create a container for Speedtest Tracker that uses host network:
docker run -d --name=speedtest-tracker --restart=always --network=host \
-v /opt/speedtest-tracker/config:/config \
-e APP_KEY=base64:yzEhQwPpTU+wO/RZjsxLxQZdfMVJ5TBlW6nf8cWnbA8= \
linuxserver/speedtest-tracker
- User-defined bridge network
User-defined bridge network can be used for listening on different port. By default, Speedtest Tracker service is listening on port 80. It can be changed with -p
option.
docker network create app-net
docker run -d --name=speedtest-tracker --restart=always --network=app-net \
-p 8080:80 \
-v /opt/speedtest-tracker/config:/config \
-e APP_KEY=base64:yzEhQwPpTU+wO/RZjsxLxQZdfMVJ5TBlW6nf8cWnbA8= \
linuxserver/speedtest-tracker
Note: App key used to encrypt stored data. Generate a key at https://speedtest-tracker.dev.
Testing Speedtest Tracker
Open a web browser and go to http://<IP_ADDRESS>:80
, replacing <IP_ADDRESS>
with your system's IP address. The default login credentials are admin@example.com / password.
Uninstall Speedtest Tracker
To completely remove Speedtest Tracker, remove its container:
docker rm --force speedtest-tracker
Remove Speedtest Tracker image:
docker rmi linuxserver/speedtest-tracker
You can also remove Speedtest Tracker data:
sudo rm -rf /opt/speedtest-tracker
If a user-defined bridge network was created, you can delete it as follows:
docker network rm app-net
